Within The Law

A definition of slavery:

“The condition in which one person is owned as property by another and is under the owner’s control, especially in involuntary servitude.”

Modern slavery definition:

“Modern slavery is the severe exploitation of other people for personal or commercial gain.”

And don’t forget that there is also economic slavery in a marriage, where one party does not have financial access or freedom.

When looking at some of the companies that employ people for less than a living wage — I also see this as slavery. I am thinking of large stores that wiped out all of the smaller stores. Then paying people so little to live and with the excuse:

“If you don’t like it — work somewhere else”

The only problem is that they have wiped out all of the other stores.

There is no choice here — that, to me, is slavery.
