Smoking And Its Accoutrements
At a certain point in my life, there were a plethora of twenty-first parties to attend.
I remember one such party where the father stood up and in his speech said:
“When I was twenty one, the standard present was a special lighter, or a cigarette case.”
Now, it is interesting to see how society has changed and smoking is definitely not de-rigeur.
There was a ritual to the lighter, filling it up with fluid, checking the flint, flicking the wheel, the smell of the unlit gas, seeing the flame burst forth. More advanced owners would be able to perform tricks ostentatiously.
No longer required— just an item from another era.
I suppose people now vape, rather than smoke — I should go down the rabbit hole of the internet to see whether any tricks can be performed.
