Boris… BoJo…

The announcement of Boris Johnson, the UK Prime Minister didn’t come as a shock to those who follow the UK news. The press had a field day with headlines following the announcement.

The British newspapers have a long history of having excellent headlines, here is a sampling:

  • “Summer of discount tents” — Consumerism and the great outdoors
  • “The banned played on” —Musicians defying the Taliban
  • “Amo, amas, a mouse mat” — Latin language
  • “From the ladle to the grave” —Dinner ladies and pensions
  • “I fed the newts today, oh boy” — On John Lennon
  • “Zhumaskaliyev stuns Serbia for make benefit glorious nation of Kazakhstan” —A nod to Borat

However

Tagesspiegel, a German media outlet, referred to him as a:

“scandal noodle”

Maybe something lost in translation — but I don’t think that anyone can beat that.
