TL;DR¹

For the vast majority of republicans who voted against the same sex marriage bill, they are not voting the will of the people, they are making up ridiculous excuses to hide behind.

The ony question that every journalist should be asking to each of these senators is “Does the way in which you voted reflect the will of the people that you represent?”

It doesn’t and therefore the Republicans who voted against it are not displaying the democratic principles that they espouse.

157 Republicans voted against protecting same-sex marriages, and all 267 Democrats voted for it. My hat goes off to the 47 Republican senators that voted for it.
