I use single sign-on for Medium through Gmail.
I also use Multi-Factor Authentication for an additional layer of security.
I have used:
- DUO Mobile
- MobilePass++
- FortiToken
- Microsoft Authenticator
- myGovID
I have settled on my favourite one and that is now my go-to — apart from where I am required to use one for a client, I stick with one of them.
So when I see this whenever I log in to a new browser window, I get a little bit disappointed.
I don’t want yet another MFA method — I have muscle and brain memory for the one that I use.
And it is only because Google owns YouTube that they can force people down this route.
They shouldn’t be allowed to do this — they will squeeze out the use of the other MFA providers.
