JavaScript Is Dead, You Just Don’t Realise It Yet

Or… JavaScript as a language is dying, behind the scenes, new languages and technologies are gaining traction that will significantly reduce the value of this language

I know that JavaScript is a very popular language and there are a lot of frameworks that are built on it, but you need to keep your eye on the future as these will fade into a niche, as does all technology eventually.

History Repeats Itself

What I am not saying is that JavaScript is going to die out as a language — what I am saying is that there will be an ever-diminishing place for it, just not as big as it is today.

I have been in the industry to see debates rage around languages/frameworks/delivery methodologies/team structure/Procedural vs OOP vs functional languages — and there is a constant pattern with the ever-evolving technical landscape.

(People are still debating things like vi/vim versus emacs and tabs versus spaces— sigh)
