Introduction To Cardistry
Or… A simple path into how to do card flourishes
Background
My uncle was a magician, and I remember fondly all of the card (and other) tricks that he would do for my siblings and I when we were young. We would be amazed and always beg for more. I am not a magician, nor do I wish to be one, however, I do like being able to do flourishes with cards when I play.
My uncle would show me some of the tricks and flourishes that he knew including the charlier cut and the riffle shuffle (also known as the faro shuffle) and I stopped looking into it.
These two simple flourishes were what I would use when I would have poker games with my friends and it is just nice to be able to do some simple flourishes every now and then — although I used them exclusively for shuffling the deck when I was the dealer.
As an attempt to get better at them — this is the path that I would recommend (in order) to start your journey on the route to cardistry.
Some hints
- A LOT of tutorials out there do not take into account the size of your hands, if you have small hands, then you may need to search for other tutorials which work for you — the bigger your hands — the easier it will be. I have…
