I Just Tell It Like It Is [XCIII]
Or… The red flags that you will hear from a bully
Sometimes, people are rubbish
Here are some phrases which annoy me, because the hidden message behind this is that they are just a plain bully. These are red flags to me — so let’s decode these phrases:
“I just tell it like it is.”
Meaning: This is my excuse for being rude under the guise of honesty
“I am an alpha male”
(This is based on the wolf pack alas Alpha males don’t exist)
Meaning: I have self-determined myself to be a leader in the hierarchy of society — I can tell people what to do.
“You need to be able to laugh at yourself”, or
“Don’t take yourself so seriously”, or
“It was just a joke/I am only joking”
Meaning: You need to allow me to make fun of you and humiliate you.
“It was just the way I was brought up”
Meaning: I am a shit person and refuse to grow up.
