How I Teach My Kids Roman Numerals [XXII]
Or… Trying to teach my kids learning hacks so that they can gain more knowledge

One thing that I am struggling to do as a parent is to embed into my children that there are simple hacks to learn things — and that it is not wrong to use tricks, gimmicks, or hacks to remember things.
I this looks like a person, and the number one
V if you count, one, two, three, four, five — five has a ‘v’ sound in it
X Ten is just two fives (if you drew a horizontal line through the ‘X’ you would have two v’s — one upside down of course).
L This is half a ‘C’ — i.e. horizontal line once again and take the bottom half
C is for Century — one hundred years
D I don’t have a hack for this one… yet…
M for Millenia
I can’t remember what 51, 6 and 500 are in Roman numerals… I am LIVID :).
