A Beach In Italy

I was on holiday on a beach with some friends, and we were discussing various topics.

I commented that all young boys should be taught all house skills like washing and ironing and cleaning.

I received funny looks from some of the men that I was seated with. I continued with my discussion, however, there was not a lot of engagement from other men — the women certainly thought so.

This stuck with me to this day.

Do men still believe that their male children will go out into the world and find a ‘good’ woman who will do all of this for them, leaving them to sit around and be pampered?

I tell my children that there are no ‘boys’ jobs, no ‘girls’ jobs — there are just jobs and they must do all of them in equal share.

They both will need these skills.
