Or… Why less than good enough is perfect

Throughout our lives, there are many phrases about how you should do the best possible job at whatever it is that you are doing.
Sage advice — you really should try to do the best job — the problem here is that most people equate ‘best’ with ‘perfect’.
- There is no perfect
- There may be perfect for now — but it won’t be perfect in the future
- Your definition of perfect is going to be different to other people’s
Thomas Edison said:
“Ninety-eight per cent of genius is hard work. As for genius being inspired, inspiration is in most cases another word for perspiration.”
That hard work he was telling you about will hit up against the law of diminishing returns. There is a point where the hard work that you are putting into something does not give a proportional output.
Write something — publish now — there is always plenty of time to get better.
