A Wee Snifter Of Content

When the lockdown occurred, it was AWESOME! — the biggest impact was the lack of commute time which led to having more hours in the day to spend with family.

Work would be over and there would be time for cocktail hour — which would start as soon as work finished and would sometimes lead beyond just one cocktail.

This soon increased to almost every day a week.

I had to stop as these were some of the things that I would think to myself

  • “I deserve a drink”
  • “I have had a long day, this will soothe me”

Dangerous thoughts — so I stopped.

Now, my average drinking days per week is under 1.

Now for the Monk part

I found it particularly tough going back out into the world — I felt that I had lost a lot of my social skills and making even the simplest of small talk was a hassle.

So, I started up more regular after-work drinking with work colleagues and friends

I hope this does not become habit-forming.
