Alvin “TECH” DA 2.0mm Mechanical Pencil Review
Or… A review of a fine mechanical pencil with a long American heritage — including detailed pencil specifications.
The Pencil Design and Aesthetics
The pencil has a blue body complemented by the silver of the mechanism, nib, grip, and clip — topped with a white plastic cap (although you can also have the cap in red and green — and possibly other colours — you cannot choose them, you get a random colour).
The ‘Alvin’ logo, “TECH” DA, and ITALY are embossed into the bodywork in gold. They seem to use different fonts for the embossing and is not particularly well done. The top of the ‘I’ and bottom of the ‘Y’ in ITALY look to be slightly cut off.
There was also a manufacturing problem with the pencil that I received in that there is some sort of white pain on the body of the pencil which is frustratingly hard to remove.
Aside from that, this pencil looks like it was meant to be used, a no-nonsense design which works as it should.
