All Of The Caran d’Ache Nespresso Collaborations

Or… Hunting down the limited edition Nespresso(Nestlé) / Caran d’Ache collaborations pens and pencils.

I have always had a love of 2.0mm mechanical/clutch/sketch pencils (or lead holders) and, as Caran d’Ache is noted as being the inventor of the modern mechanical pencil mechanism, I have collected several of their 2.0mm pencils, including the limited edition Fixpencil.

All of the editions have chosen striking colours to reflect the colours of the Nespresso capsules and the areas that the coffee was selected from.

Caran d’Ache

The reason that the modern mechanical pencil mechanism came into being was, during 1929, an engineer in Geneva invented and patented a unique clutch pencil as a hedge against potential wartime disruption of the wood case pencil supply.

This was the Caran d’Ache Fixpencil — so-called:

“the world’s first modern mechanical pencil.”
