BeOS was a Beautiful Operating System — not that this is where the name came from.
- BeOS had a clean and uncluttered interface
- It had minimal button use
- BeOS had window tabs instead of bars at the top of every window
- Its icons were cute and uncomplicated and it helped to popularise the isometric look and feel of icons
This is what operating systems looked like in 2000 — Windows Server, BeOS r5 Professional, and Apple macOS
NetPositive
This was the default browser that shipped with BeOS r5 Professional addition — even the icon was reminiscent of the 2000s.
I am not sure whether anybody uses the term “Surf the net” anymore — but still, the icon reflected this phrase.
